Robin Carnahan Makes Columbia Key Stop in State Tour

Yesterday, Secretary of State and Senate candidate Robin Carnahan spoke to a  shoulder to shoulder crowd of supporters at Shakespeare’s Pizza in downtown Columbia,  her last stop of the first day on her “Stop the Bull Tour.”

Secretary Carnahan laid out her commonsense approach to bringing accountability and courage back to Washington.

“First, we need to stop the pork-barrel politics of earmarks,  not just for one year, or ten, but altogether,” she said, challenging her Republican opponent, 7 term congressman Roy Blunt to release a list of every boondoggle he’s ever lobbied for in his 14 years of reckless spending.

Putting an end to corporate giveaways and sweetheart deals for Wall Street and Big Oil was the next on her list, and her third plank was to stop the reckless spending and create a new urgency around fiscal responsibility.  “Missourians know Washington is broken, and out of touch, and so do I – that’s why it’s time to stop the bull and fix what’s wrong with Washington,” noting that while Congressman Blunt increased earmark spending by 7 fold in his time in Washington, Robin Carnahan has cut costs for small businesses by nearly $12 million and returned over $10 billion back to wronged investors.
